Bobby Dalbec optioned back to Triple-A Worcester
The Boston Red Sox optioned infielder Bobby Dalbec back to Triple-A Worcester on Monday. The move allowed the team to recall outfielder Jarren Duran.
Dalbec was initially recalled following the injury to outfielder Adam Duvall. Boston added Dalbec’s right-handed bat following Duvall’s diagnosis of a broken wrist.
The 27-year-old provided manager Alex Cora a righty bat as the club was set to face a run of left-handed starting pitchers.
The Washington native went 2-for-9 (.222) at the plate with one stolen base, two walks, and five strikeouts. He also saw playing time at first base, third base, and shortstop, all three positions he also played with the WooSox.
During the WooSox last home stand, I spoke with a Red Sox front office official and asked how long Dalbec would stay with the Red Sox.
While the front office executive wouldn’t put an exact time frame on Dalbec’s time in the bigs, the versatile infielders locker was never cleaned out at Polar Park.
