Bobby Dalbec and Daniel Palka help power WooSox with home runs on Saturday
The WooSox bats were alive on Saturday in Buffalo. After a few days off at the beginning of the series due to field conditions and bad weather, the WooSox finally had their chance to play in their first road series of the year on Friday. Following their sweep of the double header and putting up 12 runs in both of their wins on Friday, the WooSox put up 13 runs in their onslaught on Saturday.
Bobby Dalbec and Daniel Palka started the scoring with back-to-back home runs.
It was Dalbec’s first home run of the year, and after a 2-6 showing, he raised his batting average to .300 and his OPS is right at 1.000. Dalbec played shortstop on Saturday as he continues to show his flexible playing another infield position. He now has seen time at first base, third base, and shortstop to begin the season. Dalbec would be assumed to be at the top of the depth chart in Worcester to receive a call up at some point this season.
It was Palka’s second of the year, and after a 3-6 day he raised his average to .333 and his OPS now sits at 1.122. Palka launched 26 home runs last season in AAA for Syracuse and is on track to put up more of the same power numbers. Palka played at first base on Saturday, which is a newer position for him.
The WooSox have started the season 5-1 after a 2-1 series win in the season opener against Syracuse and after taking the first three games against Buffalo. Another doubleheader is scheduled for today with Brandon Walter starting game 1 and James Paxton getting the start in his rehab assignment in game 2. Worcester returns back to Polar Park on Tuesday to begin a series against the Columbus Clippers with Brayan Bello set to start for the WooSox.
