Blaze Jordan has long been a name that baseball fans have heard. Now, a 21-year-old corner infield prospect for the Boston Red Sox, Jordan has come a long way from the viral videos on YouTube of him hitting monstrous home runs as a 13-year-old.
“I forget about it a lot of the time until somebody brings it up to me because it was so long ago and everything,” Jordan said. “I feel like I'm just kind of in the moment now, but yeah it's cool when somebody brings it up.”
The bat is what draws people's eye when it comes to Jordan, but the defense is something he takes pride in.
“I feel 10 times better than I did last year,” Jordan said. “I came in way better physically this year, way more athletic. I made a complete change of my body and I’m moving a lot better.”
Last year upon arrival at AA, Jordan started 30 games at first base and just 16 games at third base. This year that has flipped though, as he has started just eight games at first base and 14 games at third base. An increase in mobility is a contributing factor to that change.
The Mississippi native shared on Twitter at the end of December 2023 that he had met his goal of getting down to 205 lbs, losing 24 lbs in the process. Jordan has been public about the importance of mental health along with improving his physical health.
“Me and my family got some new land in Mississippi and I built my own facility just for me,” Jordan said. “I spent a ton of time working out there. One of the biggest changes I made was I started to cook every meal and watch what I eat, and now I eat super clean all year long.”
Entering play on Friday, Jordan holds a 17-game hit streak. Among batters 21 years old or younger, Jordan has the second-highest batting average at .283, only trailing teammate Marcelo Mayer.

Blaze, you are way to young to be brought up. The Sox organization will keep you in the minors until you are close to 30 while they keep useless batters on the 40 man roster.
