Alex Cora and Alex Verdugo ejected from Tuesday night’s game
Red Sox right fielder Alex Verdugo and manager Alex Cora were ejected from Tuesday night’s game against the Astros.
Verdugo was tossed during the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes from the dugout by home plate umpire Pat Hoberg. He who was at the far end of the Sox bench was seen yelling at Hoberg.
Following his ejection, recently called up outfielder Wilyer Abreu was inserted into Verdugo’s spot in the outfield and lineup.
Verdugo went 0-for-2 with a strikeout swinging before being ejected.
Cora was ejected from the game for the second in three games.
The Sox skipper was also tossed by Hoberg during the bottom of the seventh inning for arguing balls and strikes.
Cora rushed out of the dugout after reliever Mauricio Llovera walked Alex Bregman on a 3-2 count. The pitch was outside, but his frustrations boiled over and lost it on the home plate umpire.
Cora’s ejection marks the fourth time he has been tossed from a game this season.
